A derivative of botulinum toxin, Botox functions as a muscle paralytic by blocking chemical signals from the nerves. Injecting small amounts into the facial muscles is a treatment widely in practiced (3.2 million procedures a year) to smooth wrinkles in between and around the eyes, as well as the forehead. We inject small quantities of this medication under your skin, requiring only a few minutes for the treatment. If you are unsure how to proceed with Botox treatments, you are welcome to ask for our opinion and we will always focus on the areas that are most concerning to you.
The most frequently treated areas are the glabella (also known as the frown lines, or the “11” that the muscles between your eyes create), the forehead to decrease or even resolve unwanted creases, and around the eyes, commonly referred to as “crow’s feet.” Most people have the best result with 16-24 units injected in each area. If you desire multiple areas to be treated, sometimes the muscles will overlap and you may need less total units. We are quite aware of budgets and will work within yours and try to achieve the most desired result. Please contract the injected muscles several times over the 10-12 hours following the treatment to be sure the medication is adequately and equally absorbed. Botox generally lasts around 3-4 months, and is recommended to be re-injected before the return of muscle function and keep those wrinkles at bay.
Many cosmetic practices are sought after by people who desire increased fullness or volume to specific areas of their faces. It is undeniable, as we age, we loose volume from areas we’d rather not!! Well, these fillers can instantly reverse that unwanted process. The areas most commonly treated are the cheekbones, the nasolabial folds, which are the ones between the nose and the corner of the mouth, the marionette lines, which are below the corners of the mouth, volume loss directly under the eyes and of course, the lips. We are skilled at making subtle but dramatic changes to these areas.
We inject slowly, having you follow each injection of only drops into the areas, so you are very much a part of the team regarding the injections and sculpting of your face. If you only want a small amount of volume added to a particular area, we are willing to have you share a syringe with a friend, with us applying a new sterile needle between clients, and thus reducing cost. We will only do this with both parties giving consent.
Each of these fillers come with their own respective benefits depending on the facial sculpting you desire. Juvederm is a smooth consistency gel comprised of cross-linked hyaluronic acid, one of the few acids that is FDA approved for use as a facial filler. It is excellent for hydrating skin and adding volume to applied areas. Radiesse, a calcium-based filler, works by boosting collagen into injected areas, treating nasolabial folds and can also be used to enhance cheekbones. These fillers all last approximately 9 months. Voluma is the heaviest of the fillers, is used to sculpt cheekbones and is also used to fill the area directly under the eyes to treat clients who feel they look excessively tired, and lasts for up to two years. We recommend one syringe in each side for most desired result.
We also offer two newer fillers called Vollure and Vobella which each have different properties and can be used for fine lines and creases on the face. These last one year.
