You’ll feel the IPL pulses as hot and sharp, but most people find the session tolerable and don’t require oral or topical painkillers. But you are welcome to arrive 30 minutes early and have a topical anesthetic applied to help relieve the discomfort of the treatment.

Treated areas will actually get darker in the 1-4 days following IPL treatment and then gradually slough off. You can return to work the day after IPL treatment and may use makeup to even out your complexion.
